The number of Mustangs being built each year continues to shrink ever since the 1965 model. Competition is tougher and tougher and for 1971 Ford built 151,484 cars. The most popular model remains to be the coupe with 65,696 units and the second largest build in the Mustang Fastback Mach 1 with 36,499 cars being built. The smallest built is the Boss 351 at 1,806 units. You can get your mustang in 18 different colors and 4 different interior choices. Obviously there are many options you would want to add to your new Mustang that can raise the price substantially, but the base prices are still within reason.

With seven engine choices for the 1971 Mustang the bases are covered, they include the 250 CID six-cylinder, 302 V-8 2-barrel, 351 V-8 2-barrel, 351 V-8 4-barrel, 351 V-8 4-barrel with 285 hp, 351 V-8 4-barrel Boss with 330 hp, 429 V-8 4-barrel and the 429 V-8 4-barrel with 375 hp.
